Creative Climate Collaborations Türkiye
As COP31 comes to Antalya in November 2026, the British Council is supporting new collaborations between creative practitioners and organisations in the UK and Türkiye. The Creative Climate Collaborations programme brings together arts, culture and creative practice to explore climate and environmental challenges, while building lasting connections between the two countries’ creative sectors.
The five selected collaborations bring together different approaches, from participatory art and climate storytelling to sustainable filmmaking, ecological knowledge and more-than-human design. The projects will include workshops, exhibitions, research, public engagement and digital outputs, with activities taking place around COP31 and continuing beyond it.
We Gather at COP31 Because We Must
UK: Get It Done – Manchester
Türkiye: Ankara Aks Derneği
Building on an earlier residency in Ankara, Aks Creative Hub and Get It Done will explore how participatory art and creative practice can make climate action more accessible and engaging. The project will bring together sensory research, reclaimed materials, public-space interventions and gamification, leading to an interactive exhibition, participatory game and creative workshops around COP31.
Sustainability in Film & Media: Creative Climate Collaborations for COP31
UK: BFI, ScreenSkills, BAFTA albert, Julie’s Bicycle and Climate Spring
Türkiye: EkoFilm
This collaboration connects Türkiye’s film and audiovisual sector with UK expertise in sustainable production, green skills and climate storytelling. Through workshops, screenings and sector conversations, the project will explore sustainable filmmaking, green careers and the role of film and media in climate engagement. Professional development and digital content will support knowledge exchange beyond COP31.
Culture, Creativity and Climate Communication ahead of COP31
UK: Creatives for Climate
Türkiye: Esmiyor Derneği
Esmiyor Association and Creatives for Climate will explore how culture and creativity can strengthen climate communication in Türkiye. Through research, peer learning and workshops, the project will focus on climate storytelling, public trust, greenwashing and greenhushing, bringing international expertise together with Türkiye’s local cultural context.
GOLA × People’s Palace Projects
UK: People’s Palace Projects
Türkiye: GOLA Culture, Arts and Ecology Association
GOLA and People’s Palace Projects will explore how living ecological knowledge can contribute to climate resilience and wider climate conversations. Working with communities in Türkiye’s Eastern Black Sea region, including Laz and Hemshin perspectives, the project will use participatory research, storytelling, photography and film to explore relationships between culture, nature and climate change.
Roof Coliving × Selût
UK: Selût
Türkiye: Roof Coliving
Roof Coliving and Selût will use a More-than-Human Design approach to explore relationships between people, cities and the natural environment in Ankara’s Esat neighbourhood. Through community workshops, sensory mapping, urban walks, craftivism and participatory research, the project will explore biodiversity, ecological change and more-than-human life in the city. The collaboration will lead to a public artwork and exhibition, alongside an open methodology resource that can be adapted in other contexts.
Together, these collaborations highlight the role of arts and culture in creating new conversations around climate, connecting local experiences and knowledge with international perspectives, and developing partnerships that can continue beyond COP31. The programme aims to strengthen UK–Türkiye creative relationships and support the cultural sector to contribute to climate action.
