II. English Language Teachers’ Conference: Innovation and Technology in English Language Education

The British Council in Türkiye, the Directorate General for Innovation and Educational Technologies (YEĞİTEK) of the Ministry of National Education, and the Sabancı Foundation are pleased to host the II. English Language Teachers’ Conference: Innovation and Technology in English Language Education, taking place on 23–24 September 2026 in Bursa.

Following the success of the first English Language Teachers’ Conference held in Adana in November 2025, the second conference will bring together English language teachers from across Türkiye for two days of professional learning, knowledge exchange, and collaboration.

The conference programme will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, workshops, and teacher-led presentations showcasing classroom-based good practice examples.

About the Conference
This year’s conference will explore how innovation and educational technology can support English language teaching in meaningful and practical ways. It will provide a space for teachers and education professionals to discuss the opportunities and challenges emerging from the increasing use of digital tools and artificial intelligence (AI) in education.

Sessions will explore how technology and AI-supported tools can contribute to areas such as lesson planning, classroom interaction, assessment, feedback, and learner support. The conference will highlight the importance of using technology with a clear pedagogical purpose, while keeping teacher expertise, student engagement, and learning needs at the centre.

Why This Matters
Digital tools are becoming an increasingly important part of teaching and learning. However, their impact depends on how effectively they are selected, adapted, and integrated into classroom practice.

Teachers play a central role in connecting technology with learning objectives, learner needs, and classroom realities. As AI-supported tools become more widely used in education, important discussions around reliability, assessment, ethics, data privacy, accessibility, and equal opportunities will continue to shape the future of language learning.

Who Can Apply?
The conference is open to practising English language teachers working across all school levels who have implemented innovative approaches, educational technologies and/or digital tools to support English language teaching.

Teachers are invited to share classroom-based examples that have already been implemented with students. Submissions should demonstrate the purpose of the practice, how it was introduced, how students participated and what outcomes were achieved.

Conference Focus Areas
The conference will explore a range of themes, including:

  • Using technology to support teacher-led learning and encourage active student participation.
  • Helping teachers evaluate and adapt digital tools in line with learner needs and teaching goals.
  • Exploring the role of innovation, educational technology and AI-supported tools in assessment, monitoring, and feedback.
  • Promoting inclusive and accessible learning through appropriate digital support and low-tech solutions.
  • Developing learners’ digital literacy and critical awareness of AI, including issues around data privacy, bias, reliability and the limitations of AI-supported tools.
