Do you want to continue your postgraduate studies in the UK? A GREAT scholarship could be for you! 

For the 2028/2 academic year, the British Council is offering 8 master’s scholarships, across various subjects for students from Türkiye, in partnership with UK universities.

Each scholarship is worth at least £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate course. 

Scholarships are jointly funded by the UK government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council, together with participating UK higher education institutions. Worldwide, for the 2026/27 academic year, 140 GREAT scholarships are available to students from 18 countries, offered by more then 60 UK universities.

For the 2026/27 academic year, postgraduate scholarships are available to students from Türkiye at the following institutions:

You must be:

  • a citizen of Turkey (or other eligible country);
  • have an undergraduate degree, be motivated and have an interest in the proposed subject area;
  • meet the English language requirement of the UK university;
  • establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment;
  • be willing to attend a networking event for all UK-based GREAT scholars, to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK;
  • be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and their university or higher education institution and act as an ambassador for the GREAT scholarships;
  • as an alumnus/a of the GREAT scholarships, be willing occasionally to speak to potential candidates about his or her own experience of studying in the UK.

  • The deadline to apply for a GREAT Scholarship varies according to each institution. For details on individual institutions’ deadlines, please see each institution’s page.
  • Successful scholars will be informed by individual universities on the result of their applications. The British Council cannot comment on the state of your application, as this is managed by universities.
  • Scholarship funding will be issued to successful scholars by individual universities after registration.
