Book your IELTS test with the British Council in Turkey

In Turkey, we offer IELTS test at the following locations:

Adana, Aksaray, Ankara, Antalya, Bursa, Erzurum, Eskisehir, Gaziantep, Istanbul, Izmir, Karabuk, Karaman, Kayseri, Kirklareli, Kocaeli, Konya, Manisa, Mersin, Mugla, Ordu, Samsun, Tekirdag, Usak and Van.

Important Notice: You can only take the IELTS test with a valid Turkish national ID card or passport with your photograph included. Driver’s license, Blue Card, residence permit, work permit and lawyer’s ID card are not accepted. In addition, you will not be allowed to take the test with an ID card or passport that has no photo, is worn, damaged, has a missing chip, or has expired.

Book your IELTS test

Notice: Electronic devices are not allowed in the test room. If you need to bring a medical electronic device, such as a hearing aid or blood glucose monitor, you must contact us at least two business days before your test date.

Before you book or travel to a British Council IELTS testing point, you’ll need to have the following items ready:

1. A valid identification document (identity card or passport). Your ID must be valid at the time of booking and on the test day. If you're under 18, your parents will need to register online on your behalf. IELTS is not recommended for anyone under 16.

Important Note: You will not be allowed to take the IELTS test with a driver's license, Blue Card, Residence Permit, Work Permit and Lawyer Identification Card. In addition, you will not be allowed to take the test with an ID or passport that does not have a photo on it, is worn, broken, has a broken chip or is out of date.

2. A credit/debit card to pay through our online booking system. Alternatively, you can pay by bank transfer up to 5 days before your test day. In the bank transfer statement, you must write your full name, test date and the reference number that will be given to you during registration. Example: Ali Yilmaz, 27 November IELTS, A3-TR002-S-XXXXXXX

The British Council cannot accept payments made through banks or financial institutions that are subject to sanctions by the UK or any other relevant authority. If we identify a payment made from a sanctioned bank or financial institution, we will be required to freeze the funds related to that payment. In this case, we will not be able to provide the service the payment was intended for. Please make sure that you do not make your payment from an account held with a sanctioned bank or financial institution.

At a test centre:

  • IELTS on computer
  • IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper (not available for UKVI tests)

Remotely:

  • IELTS Online

You can take advantage of more frequent session dates and times with IELTS on computer or IELTS on computer with Writing on Paper at our official test centres.

  • If you are taking IELTS in a British Council testing point, you can choose your Speaking test slot.
  • If you take IELTS Online, your Speaking test will usually be scheduled before your Listening, Reading and Writing. It could be on the same or a different day.

Your Listening, Reading and Writing sections of the test will be completed on the same day with no break in between.

After you have booked your test, we will confirm the following information by email:

  • the start time of your test 
  • where you will take your test (including testing point address)
  • your Speaking test date and time
  • your access to IELTS Ready Premium.
