Propeller Theatre Company at Istanbul Theatre Festival, 20-24 May 2014
Propeller Theatre Company was in Istanbul with two highly acclaimed productions to launch our three-year programme marking 400 years since Shakespeare’s death.
Propeller brings Shakespeare’s plays to life in engaging and innovative ways, drawing on influences from classic and modern film and music to create powerful and entertaining ensemble productions.
In partnership with Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV), the British Council brought Propeller’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Comedy of Errors to the Istanbul Theatre Festival.
Director Edward Hall hosted a question and answer session and was presented with an honorary award by IKSV following the performance on Saturday, 24 May.
Propeller also lead workshops on bringing the text to life and developing new approaches to music and sound in theatre.
Both plays were performed in English, with Turkish subtitles. Both plays are directed by Edward Hall and designed by Michael Pavelka.
Workshops with Propeller
Propeller lead two workshops on Movement and Perception and Music On The Stage. On 23 May Propeller also opened their doors early to allow audiences to learn more about preparing the set and the company for a performance.
