Supporting the Creative Economy, Hybrid Learning Programme

Developed by the British Council and Cultural Associates Oxford, and implemented in collaboration with Culture Unleashed in Türkiye, 'Supporting the Creative Economy' hybrid learning programme is now open for applications. The programme welcomes applications from experts and mid-level executives from the public sector, as well as professionals working in the cultural and creative industries, who have a keen interest in policy development.

The programme aims to foster effective policy making for the creative economy, enhance capacity and elevate the quality of research and development in this field. 

Scheduled to take place between 20 September and 20 October 2023, the programme will be delivered in Turkish. You can apply for the programme through the the British Council Turkey website until Sunday, 3 September.

About the programme

'Supporting the Creative Economy' provides professionals with innovative ideas and tools to support the cultural and creative industries in their city/region/country, as well as expand their professional networks in the UK (United Kingdom) and internationally. This comprehensive training program covers a diverse range of topics, from branding and digital transformation to entrepreneurship and cultural heritage, aiming to share insights into the significant impact and role of the cultural and creative industries. By fostering new connections, developing policy solutions, and creating a common language, the program seeks to cultivate a thriving creative ecosystem.

Having successfully run for the past two years by the British Council, the 'Supporting the Creative Economy' program is now being adapted for Türkiye, with a detailed analysis and literature review in collaboration with Culture Unleashed. Led by Emre Erbirer, Mustafa Gül, and Gökçe Dervişoğlu Okandan, experts in the field of creative economy in Türkiye, Culture Unleashed will run digital and face-to-face seminars, panels, and workshops within this four-week program. Upon successful completion of the 'Supporting the Creative Economy' program, participants will be awarded a certificate in recognition of their achievements.

Applications

Applications are open to participants from Türkiye who meet the following criteria:

  • Experts and managers working in the public sector,
  • Professionals working in the cultural and creative industries and interested in policy development. 

Candidates can submit their applications by filling out the online application form until 23:59 on Sunday, September 3, 2023.

The culmination of the programme will be an in-person workshop held in Istanbul, offering a unique opportunity for selected number of participants to engage closely with the content.  Participants traveling from outside Istanbul will be responsible for covering their workshop participation costs independently. Selection for the workshop will be based on the applicants' responses to the questions in the application form, focusing on the specific area or industry issues that the roadmap aims to address, while ensuring a balanced representation. 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Reside in Türkiye.
  • Demonstrate full professional proficiency in Turkish language.
  • Working the cultural and creative industries and/or the creative economy.
  • Participate in the program between 20 September - 20 October 2023.
  • Be over 18 years old.

Evaluations

Applications will be evaluated by the project team consisting of British Council and Culture Unleashed representatives.

The assessment process will consider both the eligibility of the applicants and the quality of the information provided in the application form. To enhance your chances of selection, it is crucial to articulate your reasons for keen interest in the program and how you envision it will enable you to make meaningful contributions to the advancement of the cultural and creative industries in Türkiye.

Considering the anticipated high number of applications, we regret that detailed feedback on unsuccessful applications will not be feasible.
