BOSPHORUS CONFERENCE HELPS DEBATE TURKEY’S EU ACCESSION
The British Council hosted its annual Bosphorus Conference for the third time in Istanbul, next to the body of water giving the annual event its name.  The conference coincided with “difficult times for Turkey,” as mentioned occasionally by senior politicians, diplomats and academics from Turkey as well as Europe

VENICE –ISTANBUL EXHIBITION AT ISTANBUL MODERN
British Council is supporting the Venice – Istanbul exhibition at Istanbul Modern. For the first time in the 110-year long history of the Venice Biennale, the world’s renowned art event is moving beyond the borders of Italy.

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT UK UNIVERSITIES AT THE AKARE EDUCATION FAIR
The British Council will join representatives from 26 prestigious UK institutions at the Akare Education Fair, which will be held in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir between the 4th and 8th November. Prospective students will be able to get information on university courses, certificate programmes, high school education and language studies in the UK

`GOING GLOBAL2’ TO DISCUSS INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION
There is less than two months until the UK’s foremost international education conference, Going Global2, is due to be held in Edinburgh.  This year’s conference will focus on the trends, benefits, opportunities and risks associated with the latest developments in the education sector and will bring together international education professionals
NEW COURSE FOR TEACHING YOUNG LEARNERS

TRAINING FOR NGOS FOR EFFECTIVE MEDIA RELATIONS ON DIVERSITY ISSUES
As part of our ‘Media and Diversity’ project, representatives from around 20 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) received two-days of training in Istanbul to strengthen their capacity to develop their media strategies and implement effective communication policies.  The training was delivered by UK experts from BBC World Service Trust.
A TOUR TO HIGHLIGHT FOOTBALL FOR DEVELOPMENT
A cultural, football and leadership tour brings together children and young people, and two similar projects from Turkey and the UK.  Participants from Turkey’s Sokak Ligi and the UK’s Street League; two projects using football to help children and young adults from disadvantaged backgrounds achieve personal development; will visit Ankara, Gaziantep and Izmir for football and leadership training, a national tournament and an international panel.


GePGenÇFestiVaL ASKS YOUNG PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE
The upcoming, highly-anticipated, international GePGenÇFestiVaL is offering young people, who are active in youth work an opportunity to meet, discuss and develop further partnerships and enjoy themselves along the way.  The British Council will be taking an active role in the Festival which is due to be held between 5th and 10th December in Istanbul.
