British Council is supporting IETM at Culture Forum Istanbul “Margins of Europe", a five day event in Istanbul which will take place between 19-23 April 2006 in Technical University`s Taşkışla Building.

This project aims to promote inter-agency coordination to ensure an effective child protection system through developing coordinated child protection strategies in two pilot cities for the adoption of a national strategy. For that aim, we will form a senior level steering committee through Social Services General Directorate and led by the same directorate. To form the committee we will hold a strategic leaders meeting with the attendance of senior staff from relevant ministries.

The 9^th of IEFT International Education Fair gathers educational institutions including universities, secondary schools, private language schools, high schools from 20 countries in April 2006. 

Lidia Douglas, EFL tutor of University of Northampton will be visiting Turkey between 10-13 April, 2006. Education UK Department is organising the visit.

Members of the newly-found student organisation, KAGET (Participatory Youth Association), will meet with British Council Youth projects team to decide how to proceed with their organisation, what their role in the upcoming International Youth Festival is going to be, and how they will attract new students to their organisation, promoting active participation of university students in decision making processes.

London Metropolitan University is pleased to announce that it will be holding seminars on “The current situation and the global outlook for the derivatives market” in Istanbul and Ankara . In İstanbul the seminar will take place on Saturday 8th April 2006 and in Ankara on Sunday 9th April 2006.

Sokak Ligi team from five cities will gather in Ankara to plan next year`s activities. British Council Sports projects team will meet with coordinators from Ankara, Izmir, Diyarbakir, Adana and Gaziantep to decide how to proceed with Turkish model of UK`s Street League, where disdvantaged children are part of an alternative national football league for personal and social development.

British Council is pleased to announce that Ferah Ilhan from Izmir Institute of Technology and Burak Kulaçoğlu from Saint Benoit High School are the winners of City College Manchester Scholarship Competition.
Both winners will be attending the summer school programmes of City College. All course fees will be paid by City College Manchester and the accommodation will be provided by UNITE, one of the largest providers of Halls of Residence in Manchester.
